Introducing the First Ever, Fire Retardant U.S. Flag

Made of the same fibers as fire suits, Old Glory can now defend itself

As the nation remembers the tragic events of September 11th, former Green Beret Kyle Daniels is honoring the anniversary in a unique way. After returning from his final deployment with the 10th Special Forces Group, Daniels was disheartened by the sight of American flags being burned. Although he respected the freedom of expression he fought to protect, he wanted to take a stand. Daniels channeled his frustration into action, designing a flag that cannot be burned. Now, after years of research and hundreds of prototypes, his company, Firebrand Flags, is set to launch a groundbreaking product: the first-ever official, fire-retardant U.S. flag made in America from the same high-tech flame-resistant fabric that protects our service members and first responders.

Daniels has bold aspirations for Firebrand Flags. “I want Firebrand Flags to be the official flag company of the U.S.A.,” Daniels declared. “I want every home, business, and government building in America to proudly fly one of our flags. And if one of our adversaries got ahold of one, it wouldn’t serve as a propaganda tool—they would have to go to extreme lengths to destroy it, much like when they face an American service member. Old Glory can now defend itself.”

Creating a flag that looks, feels, and flies like a traditional flag but resists burning posed significant challenges. Daniels had to innovate materials and devise a manufacturing process that didn’t previously exist, requiring new machinery and large quantities of the same fabric used in fire suits for first responders. Despite numerous setbacks, Daniels persevered, applying the resilience and determination he learned in the military.

Reflecting on the journey, Daniels stated, “You have to adapt, overcome, and do whatever needs to be done to accomplish the mission.” Each Firebrand Flag stands as a powerful symbol of American resilience, a tribute to the spirit of 9/11, and a testament to the enduring strength of the nation.
